The Chinese believe that that the benefits of goji berry are many and varied. It has been used by them for generations cooked into foods, used in herbal soups and teas to protect the liver and eyesight and improve circulation and sexual function.

There have been few tests done to determine the actual health benefits of goji berry. In one test that was conducted on people undergoing cancer treatment, it was found that people who used goji berry juice responded better to treatment. While this is not concrete proof that goji berries juice can aid in preventing or treating cancer, it certainly indicates that further studies need to be conducted as the possibility looks promising.

Sellers of goji juice make the claims that the goji berry can help protect eyesight and although there are no scientific tests to prove that this is true the berry does carry zeathanthin which when taken in large enough quantities in food may indeed help the eyesight of those over 65.

Although many professionals believe the benefits of goji berry may be overrated, it is still considered a healthy fruit. What are the Side Effects of Goji Juice?

Since there have been so few clinical trials conducted on goji berry juice, there really hasn't been much documentation in the way of side effects. While most health professionals feel this berry is as safe as most other foods, there is some potential that it may not react well with people who are taking certain kinds of medications especially blood thinners as it may cause excess bleeding.

Goji berries may not live up to all the health claims made about it, but it can be used as part of a food supplement and a balanced diet to add your needed vitamins and minerals. However, with the potential risk of excess bleeding in people taking blood thinners, it would be wise for people on medication to consult with their physician before adding goji berry juice to their daily diet.
