EFT was developed by Gary Craig. EFT technique is an alternative healing method which combines the science of acupuncture minus the needles, and mind, body, thought and energy healing therapies. This technique is also referred by many people as eft tapping because it makes use of the fingers to tap on certain meridian points on the body.
A few thousand years ago, ancient Chinese discovered that there is energy flowing throughout the human body and there are certain pressure points on the body that correspond to the different organs in the body. They also discovered that by inserting needles on specific points, they were able to treat conditions and illness.
Gary Craig discovered that by using the fingers to tap on certain acupuncture points, he was able to remove emotional blocks and treat people who were traumatized or have developed a phobia. He tested further and found that eft was also able to eliminate physical pains like TMJ or temporomandibular joint and bad habits such as smoking. According to him these conditions, problems and issues are caused by negative emotional attachments. Until they are released, it is difficult to change or heal.
The emotional freedom technique is now applied on many issues such as to clear worries and resistance and to attract love and abundance. In fact one of EFT's popular tagline is "Try it on Everything."
