Benefits of Physical Activity

Physical activity is defined as any type of activity in which you use your body to enhance your fitness and wellness. Physical activity may be used for weight loss, skill enhancement, or to maintain physical fitness.


When you perform physical activities often, your body's immune system strengthens, preventing you from getting diseases that are caused by the lack of physical activity: heart disease, diabetes, and cardio vascular disease. Also, when your immune system strengthens, you find that you will get less cold and other sickness.


But, the importance of physical activity isn't only for the benefits of your health and fitness. It is also important for your mental health and social skills.

Many people believe that first impressions are very important, and if you feel insecure about the way your body looks, you may feel very uncomfortable around other people. This can hinder a person's social skills, making their self-esteem and body image weaker.


A growing problem around the world is childhood obesity. Not enough kids are getting the exercise they need to develop physically and socially. This raises concern because if children are not developing correctly, health problems may be in their futures.


The benefits of physical activity come from the three types of exercise: flexibility, aerobic, and anaerobic.


Flexibility exercises focus on you joints and range of motion in your muscles. Stretching your major joints every day, especially before exercising to keep the joints and muscles limber.


Aerobic exercises are about maintaining and increasing your cardiovascular endurance. Try activities that you can do for extended periods of time. These activities can include: walking, swimming, running, jogging, tennis, and riding a bicycle.


The benefits of physical activity from aerobic exercise will lessen the chances of you developing conditions such as: obesity, diabetes, insomnia, depression, and high blood pressure.


Anaerobic exercises focus on the short-term part of your strength. For this type of exercise, you will want to do weight training, sprinting, and etc.


When you exercise, your body increases hormones that make you feel good about yourself and reduces the production of hormones that cause your to feel stressed and build up fat around your body.


The benefits of physical activity really start to show in your attitude. When you exercise regularly, your body will begin to take the shape that you want. Once you accept your new body, you will begin to feel more comfortable around other people, especially strangers.


The importance of physical activity is also evident in your health. Once you start doing regular exercise routines, you will start to have more energy to do things that you couldn't do be fore, and you will feel better overall.


Everyone will not get the same benefits of physical activity. No one has the same body, so don't expect the same results at the same pace that you may see in other people.


It is important that physical activity be a part of life very early. The longer you wait to get fit, the harder it will be for you to reach your fitness goals.
