Benefits of herbs and a list of herbs and their uses.
Medical researches revealed that thousands of years ago, man already knew the culinary and medicinal benefits of herbs and spices. Hippocrates, a famous Greek physician and who is referred to as the father of medicine, have listed about 400 herbs back in the 5th century.
And back in those ancient times, the Greeks, Romans, Chinese and people from India were some of the pioneers who concocted various herbs and created herbal remedies for different ailments.
Today, herbs are still used to add flavor and seasoning to food and beverages. On top of that they are used as nutritional and dietary supplements, an alternative medication for illness, to promote good health and for the prevention of diseases. Herbs are also being used in cosmetics, as dyes and scents.

More people are aware of the health benefits and trust the healing power of the different types of herbs. Many have begun to grow their own so that they can have fresh and natural herbs and learned to make their own herbal home remedies. If you aren't into planting your own herbs, you can find many herbal medicines and health products sold over the counter as herbal supplements.
