Chlorophyll is a green pigment that produces the green color in plants and algae. The highest amount of chlorophyll is found in chlorella, which is not a vegetable but single-celled green algae. Other plants that contain high amounts of chlorophyll are alfalfa, wheatgrass, spirulina and spinach. Chlorophyll is rich in vitamins and minerals, proteins, iron, beta carotene and amino acids.

Liquid chlorophyll is the extract from green plants. Most of the liquid chlorophyll sold is extracts from chlorella and alfalfa. You can also get chlorophyll supplement in the form of capsules and tablets. If you don't want to take any supplement, you can get chlorophyll from fresh green vegetables or drink wheatgrass juice.

One of the benefits of chlorophyll is it soothes and protects your stomach. Stomach upsets happen due to various reasons. Poor digestion is one of them. Eating expired food is another. Taking antacids too regularly to neutralize your stomach acid can make it too alkaline. The stomach is supposed to be acidic.

If you go on a strict diet and don't eat, there is no food in the stomach. The hydrochloric acid will start digesting the mucous lining of your stomach. When the mucosa of the stomach becomes too thin, it can let the acid shoot up your esophagus and cause acid reflux.

Taking liquid chlorophyll supplement may help treat acne. Eating too much refined, processed and sugary foods will increase toxin and insulin level. When it happens and your body resists it, you may trigger acne breakouts. Chlorophyll helps detoxify your internal system and prevent toxin from entering your blood system.

Chlorophyll delivers magnesium to the cells. One of the reasons for deficiency in magnesium is because of insulin resistance. It can lead to type 2 diabetes. So even if you take magnesium supplement, you are still at risk of this disease. The solution is to eat more green vegetables or drink green vegetable juice because they contain chlorophyll that will deliver the magnesium to your cells. You also need magnesium to assist in your body functions including many enzymes that require magnesium to perform effectively.

One of the other benefits of chlorophyll is it helps get rid of bad breath and body odor. Bad breath normally happens because of intestinal problems. When there is too much toxin in your gastrointestinal tract, the toxins enter your bloodstream. And that's how you get body odor and chronic halitosis.

A low carb diet is also another cause of bad breath. A low carb diet is a diet that emphasizes on protein and fat and very little of bread, rice, fruits and starchy vegetables. When you decrease your carbohydrate intake, your body doesn't have enough of it to produce energy. So it uses your stored fats. The fat that burns to produce your energy produces a chemical called ketones, which releases an unpleasant smell. Chlorophyll may help solve these problems and even improve your morning breath.
