Carrots contain 77% beta carotene per 100 grams of carrot. The beta carotene contributes to the orange pigment of this root vegetable. This beta carotene is then converted into vitamin A in the body. Vitamin A is necessary for the immune system. It may help prevent the growth of cancer cells especially that of skin and breast cancer.


The retina of the eye needs vitamin A. And drinking carrot juice or adding carrot to your diet is necessary for good eyesight. Deficiency in vitamin A will lead to poor vision and night blindness. It also helps in bone metabolism.


Carrot juice is good for pregnant women as it help with embryonic development. It also reduces the risk of your baby from developing jaundice. And it helps increase the production of breast milk.


Carrots also contain dietary fiber. This is good for your bowel movements and in the prevention of constipation. The nutrients in carrots also function as a cleanser. They clean the liver and excrete fats and bile.


And they are high in the B vitamins such as vitamin B1, riboflavin or vitaming B2, niacin or vitmain B3 and vitamin B6. There is also vitamin C. The minerals present are magnesium, calcium and phosphorus. These nutrients together with the beta carotene contribute to healthy hair, teeth and nails.

The antioxidant properties in carrot juice are good for skin health. It prevents skin dryness. And these antioxidants protect the body from free radicals. It reduces skin related problems like acne, wrinkling and sagging of the skin or premature aging. Dry skin is one of the symptoms of the lack of vitamin A.


How to make carrot juice? Easy. Get a few carrots and wash them thoroughly. Cut to smaller pieces. Put them in your food processor. Drain it. If you want to add additional flavor, choose any other fresh fruit juice of your choice such as apples.


As mentioned above, there are many health benefits of carrot juice but there is one obvious side effect to drinking more than the amount recommended. Excess amount of beta carotene intake can cause the skin to show an obvious orange tint. But it is harmless.
