What are the benefits of anaerobic exercise? What is the difference between aerobic and anaerobic exercises.
There are various differences between the types of exercise programs you can take part in. Most people will look towards basic aerobic exercise programs as a means of getting into better shape and physical condition. However, for those who wish to boost their fitness levels, the benefits of anaerobic exercise needs to be looked into.
Anaerobic exercise can certainly work quite well in terms of its ability to expand conditioning and fitness levels to a high degree. That is why such workouts are worth it to those that are involved in high intensity athletic ventures.
So, what is an anaerobic exercise?
You could say that it is one that does not rely on oxygen. Okay, that will require a little further clarification.
An anaerobic exercise is designed to be performed in very short burst. The human body will be worked at so high of an intensity level at this point it would be completely unable to procure enough oxygen in order to perform the exercise. As a result, the body will burn energy from the muscles in order to be able to perform.
Again, this is much different from aerobic exercises which rely on oxygen. Also, aerobic exercises can be performed for extended periods while the high intensity of an anaerobic workout will limit it to being performed for short period of time.
One does have to be wary of anaerobic exercises in the sense that they can lead to a very high heart rate. Being mindful of how high the heart will beat in such a scenario is paramount to working out safely. The benefits of anaerobic exercise will be greatly diminished if such training is performed in a manner that can undermine health and safety. Again, always pay attention to safety when performing any type of anaerobic exercise.
And what are some of the main benefits of anaerobic exercise?
Probably the main benefit would be significant increases in endurance. When you are working out in an anaerobic training program, your conditioning will increase tenfold. As such, those involved in performance sports will train heavily in these exercises. Also, such exercises can certainly improve heart health since they make the entire cardiovascular system much stronger. But, of course, this is only true if proper levels of safety are maintained when performing the exercises.
The types of exercises that are considered anaerobic will range. The common thread among them, however, is the notion that they employ strong bursts of energy. Any type of sprinting, for example, would be considered an anaerobic exercise. Certain forms of power lifting also fall into this category. Even many extreme sports can be considered anaerobic if performed with high enough intensity.
So, there really is little limit to what can be considered an anaerobic workout.
You need to develop your conditioning prior to starting an anaerobic training program. To try and start one too soon may be premature and potentially dangerous. However, with the right preparation, you will find the workouts to certainly be rewarding.
