Many people might be familiar with the benefits of complementary and alternative medicine in the Chinese culture. The balance of the five elements, emotions and spirits has origins that date back 4,000 years. Yin and Yang, Qi, Blood, Jing and Bodily fluids are part of this essential philosophical concept of balance, which is considered a form of complementary alternative medicine that is mainly found in the Western world today.

Chinese medicine combines herbal treatments, different therapies like acupuncture and takes advantage of ideas that would be consider self-healing, such as the balance of the five elements. The developments of the complementary alternative medicine practices known as holistic healing came from origins like Indian Naturopathy, also known as Ayurveda, which is a term that means "Science of Life".


Homeopathy treatments came from British origins that many people believe in today. It was a form of alternative medicine that believed in "like cures like." Treating the symptoms, rather than the cause of a disease is something that is widely believed therapeutic, but self-healing comes from a mindset that encourages a healthy recovery.


Complementary alternative medicine doesn't involve chemical treatments or any advanced technology. Instead, it is based on the belief in the ability to heal yourself through your own powers, even if there are some natural herbs, minerals or other supporting things to assist in the treatment of symptoms. A healthy and positive mindset, good diet and taking care of your body are considered part of CAM or complementary alternative medicine that is readily available for anybody.


When you are thinking about the benefits of alternative medicine, you just have to think about your self-healing powers and the use of natural ingredients or therapies that might offer relief. There are many ways that those ancient practices and believes still remain in alternative medicine that is practiced in today's world.
